Robotic Arm 101 – All There is To Know About Robotic Arm

The 20th century has seen the introduction of many useful technologies. Perhaps one of the most celebrated inventions in the field relates to the discovery of the robotic arm. The robotic arm is programmed in such a way that it is capable of manipulating objects in a similar fashion as a human arm.

Ever since the unveiling of the device, it has been nothing short of a revelation. Robotic arm has been incorporated in many industrial manufacturing processes to try and increase efficiency in the production process. Just like any other robotic application, the robotic arm is used to handle tedious and dangerous tasks.  These tasks always prove to be difficult for a human being. The automobile industry is probably one of the most popular industries to fully embrace the use of the robotic arm technology.

Robotic Arm

A robotic arm kit offers an invaluable resource which can enable an individual learn mechanics, programming and electronics. The most amazing thing about these robotic arm kits is that they can be used by anyone whether a beginner or an advanced user when trying to create new and powerful applications.

The invention of the first ever robotic arm dates back in the 1950s. The arm was designed by George Devol Jr., a well-known scientist. At the time of invention, most of the robotic functions were limited to space exploration which made it hard for the growth in the robotic industry. It waited until the 1980s before the robots were fully embraced in the industrial sector.

How the Robotic Arm Works

A robotic arm is the most common robot that’s used in the manufacturing industry. The robot is made up of seven metal parts which are joined together by six joints. The arm is fitted with step motors which are all connected to a computer which basically controls the robots by rotating the individual motors. The presence of the step motors is what distinguishes these types of robots from the rest. The motors allow the robot to move with much precision to give the desired results.

Most of the industrial robotic arms are designed in such a way that they are capable of performing the exact task consistently. The programmer who is responsible for the robot guides it using handled controllers. The robots then adapt this sequence of movement and perform it again and again. All the production units that pass through the process will be produced with the same precision and accuracy.

As mentioned above, most of the robotic arms that are found in the industry work in the automobile sector. They help assemble cars and perform other industrial related tasks. They are hugely accepted in the industry as they are known to do a better job than human beings. They are efficient, precise and consistent in whatever they do.
